Mystery as private plane parked at Lagos petrol station

scap_plane_0A plane caused pandemonium at a petrol station in Lagos, Nigeria, after it was parked at the pumps.

As rumours of a crash landing began to circulate, crowds gathered at the filling station to catch a glimpse of the stricken Cessna, the Nigeria Guardian reports.

However, it later turned out that the decommissioned plane was actually being towed to a new location when a tyre burst, resulting in the unplanned stopover at the petrol station.

As well as frustrating motorists caught in the traffic jam behind the plane, the incident left garage owner Oladapo Cocker decidedly unimpressed.

‘I was called [by] the Divisional Police Officer [to say] a light aircraft … had broken down at the middle of the highway and that they would need my premises to park it,’ he explained.

‘I obliged them thinking it would be [there] for few hours before they would come and remove it.’ADNFCR-408-ID-801599295-ADNFCR
